FAQs on the most burning questions.
A pore burner is a design of a gas burner in which the combustion of the premixed gas-air mixture takes place in a porous structure and not in an open flame.
The combustion takes place within a few centimetres, directly at the flat burner. There is no open flame. The object to be heated is uniformly heated by the resulting homogeneous heat.
All promeos® burners have the following characteristics:
- no open flame
- the burner units can be scaled as desired (a few kW up to several MW possible)
- Operation with natural gas or liquefied gas (special gases are possible on request)
- Complete and clean combustion
- Low-noise combustion (75dB)
promeos® burners have the following advantages:
- Reduction of energy costs through increased energy efficiency
- gentle heating of the materials without direct flame
- Compact systems, as large combustion chambers are not required
- Easy integration into existing systems
- Increased safety at work as there are no open flames and very low noise emissions
- the burner units can be scaled as desired (a few kW up to several MW possible)
- Flexibility of the gas type by operating with natural or liquefied gas (special gases are possible on request)
- Complete and clean combustion
A pore burner is powered by cheaper gas, which can save up to 80% in operating costs. In addition, a pore burner is more robust and low-maintenance than a power-based heat source that can be damaged by short circuit or overheating.
The promeos® burner technology is suitable for fast heating, precise temperature control and drying of products, materials and workpieces made of e.g. metal, glass or plastic.
Some concrete examples from our product portfolio (excerpt):
- Foundry systems and furnaces for melting, transportand and casting processes
- Tempering furnaces for glass products
- Tool heating in plastic winding pipe systems
- Hot air systems for the packaging, concrete, printing press or food industries
The promeos® technology can be found in the following industries:
Metal, plastics, paper, food, glass and textiles.
promeos® pore burner technology has proven itself in over 650 projects and 300 applications.
The operation and use is not significantly different from conventional burners. The control and control of gas-air mixtures are standard components on the market.

promeos® systems are in use worldwide. Contact us by phone at +49 (0) 911 377 367-0 or send us an e-mail E-Mail. We would be happy to clarify with you which system is relevant for your requirements.
TCO (Total Cost of Ownersip) covers not only acquisition costs but also maintenance and energy consumption costs. The exact cost depends on the type and size of the system. On request of a specific system, we can calculate the exact TCO.
Thanks to the promeos® pore burner technology, a system consumes less energy than a conventional burner for the same thermal process task.
promeos® products are all made in Germany. Development, production and assembly take place in our headquarters in Nuremberg. For manufacturing, we rely on a network of high-quality suppliers, mainly from Germany.
Definitely. The environmentally friendly promeos® as burner technology emits much less CO2. in contrast to electricity-based heat sources. Even with conventional, gas-heated systems, CO2 emissions can be reduced by replacing them with the more energy-efficient solutions from promeos®.
